Onion & Mint Rice


Ingredients

2 cups basmati rice

2 onions finely sliced

3 tsp dry mint or 2 tsp mint leaves chopped

3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

4-5 slit green chillies 

1 bayleaf

3 cloves

2 Elaichi

1' cinnamon

salt to taste

3 tbsp oil

Method

  • Wash and soak basmati rice for 15 minutes 
  • Heat water in a pan,when it starts to boil add the rice and cook till 3/4 done
  • Spread it in a plate and allow it to cool and then add 1 tbsp of oil and salt and mix it well
  • Heat oil in a pan,add bayleaf,cinnamon,cloves, elaichi and fry for a while then add sliced onion and fry till translucent
  • Add green chillies,dry mint/mint leaves,coriander leaves and fry for couple of minutes
  • Lastly add basmati rice and mix well,sprinkle salt if needed
  • Close the lid and cook for 10 min on a low flame and then serve hot with any spicy gravy
