Neer Dosa with vegetable usal

Neer Dosa


2 cups Raw Rice 

1 cup grated coconut

salt to taste

2 tsp oil


  • Wash the raw rice twice and Soak it for 2 hours.  
  • Grind rice with coconut and salt with water to a smooth batter.
  • Take out smooth batter in bowl and add enough water to make a thin batter.
  • Heat oil in a dosa pan, and spread thinly and evenly.
  • Do not cook it upside down.
  • serve it with vegetable usal/chutney.

Vegetable usal


1/2 cup green peas

2 potatoes boiled and cut into small cubes

1 carrot par-boiled and cut into small cubes

2 tsp coriander seeds

1/4 tsp jeera

1/4 tsp mustard seeds

2 big onions chopped

3 green chillies finely chopped

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 cup grated coconut

6 fried red chillies

1 small piece of tamarind pulp

8 garlic cloves

salt to taste

2 tsp oil


  • Soak peas overnight and wash it the next day 
  • Boil the peas, when done add salt to taste
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds,coriander seeds, jeera 
  • Grind these with grated coconut,turmeric,red chillies,tamarind to a smooth paste
  • Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onion and fry till transparent.
  • Add garlic,green chillies,and fry till it turns golden brown and then add peas,potato and carrot
  • Then add masala paste,salt ,little water and mix it well and cook it for 10 min till the gravy becomes semi-solid.
  • Lastly add coriander leaves and serve hot with neer dosa
