Frankly speaking I used to hate oats ...cause first time when i had tried it I had mixed just a little salt and had it and ...I literally couldnt have it......when I saw so many blogger friends trying so many nice recipes on oats I thought why not try to experiment this in my style the way I want and it turned very nice .....I never thought it would turn out so nice, well after trying this recipe I can say Oats isnt that bad also ......
Ingredients
1 cup Oats1/2 cup water
2 tbsp curd2 tomatoes chopped
1 carrot chopped finely2 sprigs of curry leaves
2 tbsp peanuts (Optional)1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala2-3 green chillies (Sliced)
1/4 tsp cumin powder1/2 tsp Cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp oilsalt to taste
Method - Heat oil in pan add cumin seeds, when it splutters add curry leaves, green chillies, peanuts and fry well.
- Now add chopped carrot, chopped tomato and fry well add red chilli powder, garam masala , jeera powder and fry for 2 mins .
- Now add coriander leaves, curd, and water and when it comes to a boil add oats and keep stirring till it becomes semi thick when it gets a porridge consistency as you can see in the picture above, switch off the gas
- Garnish it with nuts of your choice and coriander leaves and then serve hot

ReplyDeleteYou just spoke my mind, i too am not fond of oats, many people say is healthy but i just cannot take it, u must have seen i dont have a single recipe using oats :( Recently after a lot of thinking i got Mr Quaker oats and now i m planning to experiment with it, the first thing comes to my is to bake but I am afraid my waist line doesnt permit to have baked goods every, so planning to make some porridge :)

ReplyDeleteI tried it and liked it. Got the same colour and consistency. Only thing is I had to use cashew instead of ground nuts.

ReplyDeleteI've known oats as simple breakfast that I just mix with soy milk, put in microwave for a minute or two and add brown sugar or maple syrup. I eat it as a quick and easy breakfast, it's not my favorite but I have no choice when I'm in a rush. You've just inspired me to try a different version of oats, YUM!

ReplyDeleteI was an anti oats long back,then changed n get to eat them occasionally.Oats porridge looks lovely,i had tried oats upma in a similar way with the addition of diced bread to it.More than the kids,we become a kid when it comes to oats(finding a tricky way to eat it) :D
