Sweet Khichdi


1/2 cup bengal gram dal

1/2 cup coarse rava(suji)

3 green cardamom pods

1 1/2 cup sugar

1 cup grated coconut 

7 tbsp ghee

a few raisins

10-12 fried cashewnuts


  • Pressure cook dal for one whistle or till it is cooked and keep aside
  • Now Heat 1 cup water in a kadai and add rava and keep stiring till it is cooked
  • Then add cooked dal along with sugar 
  • Turn over constantly till sugar melts and begins to boil
  • Add the grated coconut and mix well till it thickens
  • Finally add the ghee and powdered cardamom
  • Mix well,garnish it with fried cashewnuts and serve
